Tippecanoe School Corporation
TSC hires diversity and inclusion coordinator

The Tippecanoe School Corporation has named Sadie Harper-Scott as its new Coordinator of Diversity and Inclusion. Scott will be supporting students and staff districtwide on equity, diversity and inclusion issues.

Scott comes to the TSC with extensive experience working with youth as an advocate, probation officer, counselor and case manager. She has spent the last five years as career transition coordinator of the IndyPendence Job Corps Center in Indianapolis. She has a bachelor’s degree from Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina. Scott is active in many community organizations including president of the local chapter of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People).

Scott will be responsible for developing and monitoring programs to achieve the district’s strategic goal of providing a welcoming environment to students of all backgrounds.

“As our schools continue to grow in size and diversity, we appreciate the needs of all students and the important role of schools in society. We believe education can be a very effective means to drive substantial change in our society,” says TSC Board of School Trustees President Patrick Hein. “Sadie has an impressive record of advocating for youth and has proven leadership experience in addressing community issues.”

Scott says she is honored to lead the TSC in advocating for marginalized students.

“I look forward to giving students and their families the resources they need to be successful and thrive in our classrooms,” says Scott. “I plan to listen, learn and help people have collaborative, solution-oriented conversations around issues of equity and diversity. If we can do that, we can all work together and move forward.”

TSC Superintendent Dr. Scott Hanback is pleased the TSC has created this new position. “We consistently review our corporation by evaluating areas of need and identifying opportunities for growth so that we can focus on meaningful improvement. As a learning institution, we’re heavily focused on helping our students achieve their full potential and discover who they can become.”

Scott’s appointment is pending approval by the TSC Board of School Trustees at the regular July 8 meeting.
