Laurie Camp will move into the assistant principal position at Battle Ground Elementary after serving one semester as an interim administrator at Klondike Elementary School. Camp has taught for 21 years in TSC, most recently third-grade at Wea Ridge Elementary. She holds a master's degree and bachelor's degree from Purdue University.
Camp replaces Alisan Clayton who accepted an administrative position with Delphi Community School Corporation. Camp will oversee student discipline, special education, support staff and other duties for about 640 students at the elementary and intermediate school buildings.
Battle Ground Elementary School Principal John Pearl believes Camp's experience as a teacher and administrator will allow her to make an immediate, positive impact at the school. "She has a positive, student-centered style and welcomes interactions with students, parents and staff," says Pearl.
Camp is looking forward to gaining leadership experience and getting involved in the community. "I am excited to be joining a team where the teachers, students, and families work together to build an atmosphere of learning that encompasses not only the individual student, but the families and community it serves," says Camp. "I am committed to bringing my best to the students, families and staff at Battle Ground."
