STPS

Student Teacher Parent Staff Organization

What is STPS?

STPS is our school's PTO. It stands for Student - Teacher - Parent - Staff Organization. As a parent, guardian, or staff member, you are automatically a member of STPS. There are no dues or requirements for membership. Our organization is a non-profit entity organized by the BGE parents, administrators, and staff.

Our Mission

The mission of the Battle Ground Elementary STPS is to enhance student enrichment through parent involvement by providing effective communication and a collaborative effort between faculty, parents, guardians, and administration. We are a hands-on organization that believes our children are our greatest investment in life! We provide volunteers and funding to support and supplement the educational experiences of all children at Battle Ground Elementary.

How can you help?

The key to a successful STPS is the involvement of our entire school community.

There are so many ways to become involved in STPS. For many, it may be supporting our fundraisers, being a homeroom parent or volunteering time at an activity or event. For others it might be chairing an activity or serving on the STPS board.

Whatever time you have to volunteer, we have an activity for you. Please consider attending a STPS meeting to get more information and see how you can get involved. The meetings are a great way to hear about upcoming events, as well as a variety of topics from adminstration, teachers and parent representatives.

Fundraisers

Fundraising is a major task for our organization, and we try to make it as easy as possible for our families to help us reach our goals. The money we raise from our fundraiser allows us to help fund activities such as, field trips, our Accelerated Reading celebrations, author/artist visits, classroom support and other items not funded by the corporation.

Volunteer Information

Thank you for volunteering in the Tippecanoe School Corporation! We appreciate you and your service to our students and staff.

In an effort to continue our due diligence with regard to providing a safe environment for our students and staff, we require all volunteers having ongoing contact with children and/or supervising students (field trips, etc.) to have cleared an expanded criminal background check. These background checks are conducted through Background Investigation Bureau (BIB).

The criminal background check will search national sex offender databases, court records, etc. The cost of the criminal history check is $17.95 (base cost) and is paid for by the volunteer through a link on our website: SecureVolunteer.

Once approved, the volunteer will receive a TSC Volunteer identification card that will be valid for a period of three (3) years. If you volunteer in multiple buildings, you will only need to complete one background check.

Volunteer background checks may take several business days to process so it is important to plan ahead.

We appreciate your understanding of this important safety guideline.
